The Pantone Colour of The Year;
Viva Magenta

  •

Back in early December Pantone revealed their 2023 colour of the year and it did not disappoint. Viva Magenta - a bold shade that according to Pantone speaks of strength and being fearless, while also emulating nature and the power of joy.

  •

Aptly named the ' Magentaverse ' - you'll see brand partnerships across most categories indulging in the palette and of course you can head to the hashtag across all socials, for more inspiration than you can handle.

  •

But for those of us who are focusing on our own style this New Year, you can be sure to be inspired by Viva Magenta, watching the vivid shade seep naturally into our homes, our beauty bags and our closets.

VIVA Beauty

One of the most impactful ways to wear the trend when it comes to your makeup bag; a bold lip. Choose a bold magenta to fit the trend but opt for undertones that marry with your usual tones to ensure you'll wear it often - Hermes Beauty's matte shades are long lasting with great pay off.

One of the easiest ways to lean into the trend is by switching up your eye palette for some new magenta tones. Opt for a palette like Patrick Ta's with a combination of textures (matte and shimmer) for the most use and switch that waterline from soft brown to rich plum.

Multi use products are always going to be best sellers and Charlotte Tilbury's Lip and Cheek Glow shades hit the mark. Choose a wash for a subtle nod to the colour of the year, or build on both cheeks and lips to vamp up your look.

If you still want to invest in a little Viva Magenta this season, then mixing up your nail colour should be high on your list. Jimmy Choo's formulas are simple to use with their flat brush head and their range of shades will have you switching from your usual nude to plum in a heartbeat.

Any self confessed beauty lover should have a NARS blush in their beauty bag but if you've never taken the plunge then maybe one of their shimmer shades is your entry point. Beautiful on deeper skin tones with gold particles, their buildable colours are perfect for both cheeks and eyes.

If there's one piece you always need more of it's knits; ideal to layer in the cold English weather. Whistles have come through this season with the perfect palette of plums and magentas and this classic wool crew neck has them all.

If you're unsure how to implement a new colour into your closet, basics are the key. Take a style you wear often such as a roll neck bodysuit and change up the shade to ensure even if the colours new, the cut and the style already ticks the other boxes.

Thinking of switching up your usual LBD with a LPD? That's a Little Plum Dress of course... Then look no further than this glam full length piece from Mango that feels bold in colour but for a glam event, feels fresh yet modest.

This season we're still going to be inundated with beautiful textures and none more so than ribbed knits, especially in sweaters and dresses. The colour of the year feels a perfect way to add tactile materials into your wardrobe, like this two tone dress from AZ Factory.

And if you just want to dip your toe into the hot colour of the year as opposed to diving straight in, maybe an accessory or two will be your best bet. The bucket hat is still everywhere for 2023 so this Mango take is ideal to snap up.

VIVA Home

If homeware is more your vibe this year, then you can never go wrong with a Dr. Vranjes scent. Their beautiful burgundy Rosso Nobile candle will fill your whole home with bold fragrance and leave you with a gorgeous glass vase after to reuse.

Glassware is always a beautiful option when it comes to adding colour into your home decor, especially if you use it seasonally. This Oliver Bonas glass jug is beautiful enough to use for sit down meals but also for upcoming spring picnics.

Looking to add something a little special into your kitchenware collection? Perhaps a set of stunning champagne flutes could be the ideal purchase. Imagine being able to grab these beauties whenever there's a little something to celebrate.

Adding a new colour into your home decor can feel like a huge decision, but a little soft decor such as pillows and throws can make the decision feel much simpler. This Raawii cashmere blanket will look heavenly thrown casually over an armchair.

It may not be summer yet but the idea of adding a little colour into your gym bag with this striped SOHO House towel feels a joyous decision. After all the sun doesn't always have to be shining to add a little sunshine into your early morning swim.
