Leather and faux leather trenches have been all over socials recently and with everyone gearing up for fashion month during the cold winter weather, it might only be the start. A bold trend to style a la Neo in the Matrix but for the on trend fashionista one that feels like a classic turned up to eleven. Even better it's a trend that's been given enough air time pre fashion city spotting that you don't have to break the bank to indulge - there's some upper high street and high street takes available that really are *chefs kiss*.
It's a trend you either love or hate and it's made it's way back around again to us - animal print is here for 2023 and it's back with a bang. A few seasons ago we saw it touched on briefly alongside the seventies pieces that were reimagined in denim, suede and leather but this season we're going full length. Animal print from head to toe in coats that Twiggy would be filling her closet with faster than you can say Pat Butcher. And if you're already a Leopard print lover then go one step further and opt for a faux fur number for two birds with one stone this winter.
There's one trend this season that would even give Del Boy a run for his money and it's one we're seeing all over the cool girls feeds; especially in New York. Probably one of the more practical trends of the winter months, mixed material coats see shearling and leather come together in beautiful harmony and leave you feeling not just warm, but uber chic too. For winter it's all about the coat but I think we can all see this trend transitioning perfectly into the shorter jacket for spring and even the gilet style for those days were that bright ball of light we've forgotten about reappears in the sky.
The bold and bright trend is back with an 80's style vengeance and judging by the likes of Christopher John Rogers, Sergio Hudson and Stella McCartney we're all fast fans of the palette. Across some of our most lusted after designers we're seeing every shape of coat we so love to wear like duster, trench and cocoon all reimagined in vivid brights such as the official Pantone colour of 2023 - Viva Magenta. Colour trends are always a favourite to wear because of the simplicity styling a colour (as opposed to a shape or material) takes on, so embrace something a little bold this season and interpret it however you see fit.
It's inevitable a lot of us may have a quilted jacket in our closets from last season as we know they've been big news for a while now - the difference for 2023? We're talking long length column coats, whatever colour you might be feeling and mixed in with pieces of this winters other trends. Invest in a quilted coat that has the belted waist of a trench, a bold bright colour of the vivid shades trend or even a touch of leather if you're a true trend lover. Look to Scandinavian brands for the true foundation of the trend and you'll find some quilted gems.
