5 Poolside &
Holiday Trends
While my dream of being poolside in the Maldives someday soon looks to be a dream that won't be coming true anytime soon, it doesn't mean that I can't enjoy being poolside right here in the UK and it definitely doesn't mean I can't indulge in some summer trends for the occasion too.
On a recent overnight stay to Lucknam Park in Wiltshire I was lucky enough to get a chance to enjoy their gorgeous ESPA spa as well as their idyllic pool while we basked in the sunshine (safely and slathered in SPF of course!) we've been experiencing over the last couple of weeks.
I packed like I was staying for the full weekend of course, because a girl needs options right? But my favourite outfits, purely because we were so very lucky with the warm weather, was my newest swimwear and all the accessories I've been waiting since spring to style.
So which poolside trends are huge for summer 2021 and which ones will you be indulging in whether your pool is in the Maldives, Cornwall or even your back garden!

Terry Cloth
If you haven't yet spotted it then where have you been?! Terry cloth is back with a bang this summer and it's absolutely everywhere when it comes to poolside style. From shorts to cover ups and from bikinis to playsuits, terry cloth is the trend material of the season and it's taking style right back to the 70's and 80's. Think retro styling with robes and rompers, colour blocking in this seasons trending pastels and jewel tones and texture from head to toe no whether you're in the pool or sticking close to your sun lounger.
Straw & Raffia
We've shown love for all things raffia, straw and woven totes on the blog before, especially with it being such a versatile trend for this year but it's especially noteworthy this season when it comes to sunshine accessories. Think beach totes, oversized hats, on trend visors, hand held clutches and even your footwear. It'll be hard to be poolside anywhere this summer and not catch a glimpse of raffia accessories but choose wisely and you'll be styling them for more than just your vacation this year.
Ribbing & Crinkle
You'd have to have spent the last few months living under a rock not to have noticed the latest swimwear trend of ribbed textures and crinkled materials. Alongside the return of the retro terry cloth for the ultimate poolside chic it's all thing textured in the pool too. Hunza G are of course the top two not two when it comes to trending swimwear in the hottest materials of the season but you'll find the trend all over your favourite retailers for the coolest vacation and staycation vibes.
Animal Print
Continuing on with what seems to be a retro summer theme for this year, animal print is making its comeback and bringing a wild side to all things holiday as it gallops back into our lives. Whether you're a leopard lover, prefer giraffe print, adore all things snake or you're into tiger stripes there's something for your this summer by the pool. Go bold with animal print swimwear, nod with a perfect pair of animal inspired flats or invest in a designer bag with the print of the season to style all season round.
Gold Sunglasses
And last but not least as if the previous four trends weren't a big enough nod to all things 70's, the sunglasses trends for this year scream retro and none more so than gold framed glasses. We all love an acetate style or even a chic solid black (rectangle is the style to fall for if you do so acetate this year) but this summer you'll need to go for gold to be truly on trend poolside. Think metal frames, subtle lenses and high shine to really hit the nail on the head this season.
I also want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful staff at Lucknam Park in Wiltshire where I shot these images. The team there were kind enough to have myself, Alex and Boe for an overnight PR stay to celebrate my birthday and we had the most gorgeous time. Of course the beautiful sunshine was a huge bonus but the hotel, spa, food and more so the staff were just incredible. Thank you for making my birthday so special!
