5 Versatile Spring
Must Haves

Guys, I don't want to jynx things but the sun appears to have graced us with its presence and it's even stuck around for a few days over a Bank Holiday Weekend of all occasions! I don't know what we've done to deserve such gorgeousness but I for one hope it's here to stay, for a little while longer at least.

My social media has been full to the brim of people having park picnics, enjoying BBQs with loved ones and simply getting out and about in the sunshine - just perfection!

I've been lucky enough to get out and about to see some of my favourite people and enjoy the sunshine safely and it got me thinking that it's that time of year were our closets can feel a little unloved and dare I stay it, even stagnant.

It's very easy when the weather changes to panic and think we need a whole new wardrobe for the season, when in fact just a couple of versatile pieces can be the key to feeling on trend, your best self and generally like you've got an outfit for every occasion at your fingertips!

Distressed Denim

Although I love my skinny jeans (that's right Gen Z I'm afraid I won't be giving them up anytime soon!) when the weather gets a little sunnier and the temperature heats up, I do find myself opting for a slightly looser cut of jean and often with a little distressing. No matter what denim you choose for your spring look, they're one of the easiest pieces in any wardrobe to dress up, dress down and simply feel cool in. My current go to for days out, brunch with Alex, more casual meetings and even dog walks on cooler evenings is throwing on a pair of distressed denim like these beauties from Paige. Easy to team with a blazer to go smart casual, a French tucked white tee to go casual chic or add your favourite spring sandals and a crisp shirt for the ultimate date night styling.

Classic Tee

If you don't already have a classic white tee in your wardrobe, what are you doing with your life?! Of course I'm kidding but I'd have to put a classic tee, brand logo or basic white, right up there at the top of the styling must haves. Whether you follow trends or avoid them like the plague, a well fitting white tee, with the neckline you prefer to rock the most, will never see you wrong. Styled with high waisted trousers as an alternative to a smart shirt, teamed with your favourite denim to look effortlessly trendy or layered under a camisole style dress to protect your shoulders from the sun and amplify a little 90's fashion. Personally there's always a white tee to hand in my closet, perhaps one too many in hindsight, but my advice would be to opt for a classic round neck, elongated sleeves so you can roll them once or twice and long enough to slip into your waistband to enhance your figure and show off your favourite belt at the same time.

Statement Sunglasses

I love pickup some on trend for the season shoes, I have a penchant for beautiful handbags and you'll very rarely catch me without one of my most worn belts finishing a look but is there any accessory that makes you feel cooler than Kate Moss herself, than a statement pair of sunglasses. You can be wearing the most simple outfit from your wardrobe, even just that white tee and perfectly distressed denim thrown together last minute but try on a pair of sunglasses and you've suddenly taken that look up a notch or 3! Not only do they protect you from suns harmful rays (we love all forms of sun protection here on the blog!) but adding your favourite pair of sunglasses adds mystery, a little sass and some confidence to any spring summer look, new or old.

Cami Dress

It's finally dress season and I couldn't be happier about it! There's nothing that makes me feel more summer ready and ready to sip a margarita on the beach, than styling a simple spaghetti strap dress that offers so much versatility. Of course you could opt for one of the many trends this season when it comes to adding a new sun dress into your closet, but since I discovered my love for the cami dress a couple of years ago I haven't really looked back. Straps thin enough to sit beautifully across your décolletage, a fit that's loose enough to add a crisp white tee underneath for cooler days, a length that sits gorgeously under a white shirt to mimic a midi skirt and the perfect cut to be able to belt and change up the fit. If you've never realised how versatile a cami dress can be, thank me later!

Smart Blazer

And of course no fashion plans for the English spring summer weather could ever be complete without thinking about layering pieces such as a smarter mid weight blazer. I love my oversized styles in gorgeous linens but nothing beats a well fitted smart blazer, that turns any look for casual to boss in an instant. Pop a collar to feel cooler than ever, roll the sleeves to show off your most loved wrist jewellery and team with almost anything in your wardrobe. Denim and trainers? Check! Jumpsuit and heels? Check! Shirt dress and sandals? Check again! You'll never regret adding a piece like a smart blazer into your wardrobe for the spring summer months, especially when we inevitably know the nights will get chillier and there will always be days sunshine feels like a distant memory. A really perfect transitional clothing piece that every closet should own!
