The Black Boot
Edit
There are certain pieces from my closet that I love to restyle every season and one of my favourite when Autumn/Winter hits, has to be my collection of black boots. I love cosy knitwear, oversized aviator jackets, cashmere accessories but of them all my favourite style of black boot tops the list.
For me a black boot should be a killer addition to any outfit no matter if you're dressed down, dressed up or simply dressed to impress. I look for a flattering heel height, a leg lengthening ankle style, an edgy pointed toe - 'et viola' the chic boot of dreams.
So here's my edit of the best black boots out in stores and online right now, that any Inthefrow outfit wouldn't be complete without.
You can find all of my outfits and all of my boots here.
THE STYLE
When I think of the black boots that have graced my closet that I have worn over and over and that have been nothing but versatile, a few styles come to mind. If I look back over my ultimate favourites there are a few things they have in common:
A Pointed Toe - My ultimate go to in a boot in general is a pointed toe. I find as a UK size 4 they flatter my foot, they have a certain 'edge' to them (no pun intended) and they look incredibly fierce. There have been a few pairs in my wardrobe with an almond or more rounded toe but in the interests of being honest, they just haven't had the same amount of wear. Oh and an open toe boot also reaches near the top of the list too!
A Stiletto Heel - I know not a heel that a lot of people would wear anywhere but on a night out but for me a stiletto/cigarette/slim heel on an ankle boot, is my day to day uniform from October through till March. A killer style heel also helps with versatility and means I can switch from a meeting to a date night with complete ease. Also wear them with your fave black jeans and your legs will look longer than long.
An Ankle Boot - I love my over knee boots in Winter, especially when I need to refresh my style in the colder weather but a classic ankle boot will always be in my wardrobe. An ankle boot, sometimes reaching a little closer to mid calf dependent on the style, can be worn with skinny jeans, midi length dresses, mini skirts and even a wide leg jumpsuit. The perfect 'goes with everything' boot.
Something Extra - And it wouldn't be a boot in my wardrobe if there wasn't something a little different about it. I love my classic black boots to have a little something edgy about them. Maybe a contrasting heel, a stand out zip, a croc embossed pattern or even a beautiful blacker than black suede. A little something extra always makes them stand out for me.
THE STORES
I have a couple of stores I immediately visit as soon as I think about shoe shopping and especially when I think about boot shopping for quality pieces. For more high street pricing I love to see what Kurt Geiger, Aldo, Dune and Reiss have on offer, and for luxury brands it's no surprise I head to Selfridges, Luisa Via Roma and Net a Porter. It doesn't matter what budget you're working with, finding a classic boot with a little 'edge' has never been easier. I've found my picks of the bunch on each site and left them below for you - I've got my eye on those beautiful ribbed boots in the sale at Karen Millen and those classic Gianvito Rossi's have been on my wishlist for far too long.
