L'Oreal Paris x Isabel Marant
W A N T E D
It's 7.30am after a wonderful and eventful evening in Paris. Last night saw the unveiling of the Isabel Marant Spring Summer 2019 collection and it was easily one of my favourite collections of the season.
Metallics, lace cut outs and washed denims ran through the alternative stories of the collection and had me and Iskra swooning outwardly over every single piece. The oversized denim jackets are something I will continue to look out for until they land in stores and the boot collection was something to dream of.
But it wasn't just the clothing we were there to see, but the latest designer collaboration between L'Oreal Paris and Isabel Marant - the five piece Wanted collection. The models were prepped by the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup teams using the Wanted Eyebrow Gel and the Amaze Cheek Gloss to the cheeks and lips - but with the 5 piece collection being launched this week, I wanted to give you my full review of the new fashionable makeup line.
This is a paid for editorial in collaboration with L'Oreal Paris. You can shop the full collection here.
L'Oreal X Isabel Marant
Wanted Eyebrow Gel: A tiny tip applicator to perfectly brush those unruly brows into place and keep them set. I like how unfussy the packaging is, but so cool in the statement black and white, running through the whole collection. It does its job, and if you're looking for a new transparent eyebrow gel, this is a definite one to try.
Amaze Cheek Gloss: With a doe foot applicator, this glossy lip and cheek tint is high shine but perfect for a subtle glossy sheen to the cheeks. On the lips, the pink tone is bright and perfectly pink.
Smile Color Riche Lipstick: My favourite item in the collection, mainly because I'm a lipstick kind of gal. But the finish of these is pigmented, soft and comfortable - with a matte finish. Just one of those easy lipsticks to pull out of your handbag and dab onto your lips without worrying about smudging. Plus the colour range, in seven shades from nude through to bright red, are wearable for everyday to evening.
Shine Beautifier: This Beaufitier can be applied alone or over foundation. I don't feel like this has much pay off on my skin, potentially due to me being quite pale. But I loved the idea of having a little pot of light pink highlight to dab on everywhere.
Smoke Eyeshadow Palette: Another favourite in the collection and the palette I used on the evening of the Isabel Marant show. I used a wet brush to pack the shimmery green onto my lids and used the black shade to smoke out the outer corners into a large cat eye. The colour was vibrant and perfect - exactly what I wanted for the evening and
THE LOOK
Easy to say, I adored this outfit. Probably the most oversized and androgynous fit I've worn all season, but one of my favourites for that reason. Tied with a belt, the Isabel Marant jacket cinched me in to a more flattering silhouette, and with it hanging off of one shoulder with a cute navy cami beneath, it added a hint of sexiness back into the look. And of course with tall, heeled booties on bare legs, the outfit was elevated and made a touch more evening appropriate. With the smokey eye and the pretty, feminine curls, it was a big mixture of femininity and androgyny that I really loved.
And for the makeup - the Smoke palette to my eyelids. The green shimmer to the mobile lid and the black to the outer crease to smoke it out. I also used my bronzer to the crease of the eye too for a warm transition. To my brows, I used the Wanted eyebrow gel, which works wonderfully at taming and shaping the brows into place. And to the lips, the Color Riche lipstick in Bastille Whistle for a light nude matte.
THE SHOW
As I mentioned, this was easily one of the most inspiring shows for me. Personally, the shows that resonate with my own personal style are the ones I connect with and the Isabel Marant show did just that. Any on lookers must have thought me a little crazy, as every look my jaw dropped open and a 'wow' popped out of my mouth as the model sauntered past. Every piece was so me, and something I cannot wait to wear for spring. The washed and pastel denim oversized jackets, boiler-suits and playsuits were truly divine, as were the paper bag waist shorts and the lace cut out dresses. Everything wowed me and immediately I knew I had watched a favourite show of the season. You can see more shots of the collection on Vogue as always.
But following the show, it was immediately onto an evening to celebrate. The silver walls of hanging tinsel were opened and behind was a bar, garden area and food counter, all for the guests who were staying for the evening. It was unexpected and clever, making all of the fashion show guests immediate party goers and I loved the fact we walked 10 feet to get a drink rather than on to a different venue. When you're in heels, every little helps. Bravo Isabel and L'Oreal; it was a night, and a collection, to remember.
