What to Pack for the Last of the Winter Sunshine

20/11/16

For the Sunshine Seekers

My bikini drawer has well and truly been retired now for another few months. After an insane year of travel and goodness knows how many bikini purchases, I am actually really pleased to say that my bikini days are over, for 2016. I’ll be on my way to Chicago in a few days time and then to the slopes of the French Alps before Christmas, and aside from maybe a trip to the outdoor hot tub, there won’t be any more time for swimsuit dates.

However, Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for sun-seekers, albeit the most expensive. Nothing gets me down more than super early mornings and pitch black skies, in addition to grey clouds and rain throughout the dismal days. But that is winter in England for you. And thus, I am not surprised at how many people flock to the sunshine Islands when December and January hit. I’ll hold my hands up and say that I too am looking for a very last minute New Year trip away, to beat those January Blues.

And so, seeing as I hadn’t shared a number of these images, I wanted to round up my Maldives blog posts with one final swimwear and holiday outfit round up. From Pineapple floats to tiny nude tone triangles, these are some of the pieces that I loved wearing, felt truly comfortable in and would highly recommend for your trip to paradise.

The Perfect White Swim.

This outfit was one of my favourites for around the pool. A beautiful white L*Space swimsuit with stunning colourful straps and seams hidden beneath a floaty, lightweight beach dress with an exaggerated racer back detail. The print on this piece makes it such a beautiful statement for around the pool.

The Fun Choices.

The pineapple float was quite frankly a must have. I had seen so many beautiful people playing around on these giant inflatables over the summer, and had to get myself a picture with one. Plus this style doubles up as a comfortable lilo. On that day, strolling over the boiling hot beach to the water with my pineapple in hand, I wore a stunning peach striped swimsuit with a low cut neckline. I can’t tell you how confident I felt in that costume. The colour, the fit and the texture of the fabric just made this a really wearable, feminine piece with a touch of sexy beach babe.

But when it came to bikini’s, this nude bikini from ASOS was a super affordable option. In a ribbed fabric and a peach nude finish, I felt like I was channelling Kim Kardashian vibes. It fit comfortably and also came in a variety of styles for easy mix and matching of your favourite style of bottoms with your favourite top. For me, bikini briefs and a triangle top usually always win.

I really wish I had managed to take some more photographs of the black jersey playsuit above. It was so comfortable, light, carefree and easy to throw on. Most days I found myself covering up my bikini with just this piece and definitely found it to be my most worn piece of clothing for the week!

And below, this lace and mesh black playsuit was another evening favourite. I packed fairly light for this trip, for once, and found myself wearing similar items for a number of nights, with this one being chosen as the majority.

These are just some of my most favourite pieces, but also take a peek at this pretty white playsuit, this gorgeous tropical print dress, this beautifully fitted pinafore and this lacy Self Portrait number for a little more outfit inspo from paradise! But for absolutely everything that I packed, the video below will have you covered! Have the best time in the sunshine, and don’t forget your spf!
