Discovering Foreo: Silicone Facial Cleansing with the Luna Mini

Discovering Foreo: Silicone Facial Cleansing with the Luna Mini
Discovering Foreo: Silicone Facial Cleansing with the Luna Mini

A unique entry into the facial cleansing market, and one I’m pretty excited about…

The Foreo Luna Mini – £99
Facial cleansing brushes kicked up a storm about two years ago, when we all started scrubbing and exfoliating our faces with cleansing devices and aiming for much clearer and unclogged skin. I’ll be honest, I enjoyed using cleansing brushes, but could never integrate them wholeheartedly into my routine. I think it was the constant need to charge them, or that they were a little bulky for my sink or bedroom cabinet. Now and again, when my skin was in need of some TLC, I’d venture back to my bathroom shelf and buff my face with a cleansing brush, but nothing really blew me away.
Then I was introduced to the Luna Mini from Foreo. I feel like this brand really came onto the scene in the past year and a half, especially in the UK beauty scene anyway, as I started to catch so many bloggers and gurus using these amazing little products all of a sudden. I was immediately intrigued. It may have been the purple casing though, you know me. Although, this does come in 5 colours, if you weren’t a purple gal.

So what makes this device different from the rest?

Swedish brand Foreo aim to provide iconic and unique beauty tools, with hygiene and wellbeing at its core. Rather than abrasive brushes with synthetic hairs, the Luna Mini device is the first of its kind to utilise a non-porous silicone brush that is easier to wash and much more hygienic. After I’ve used it, it just needs a rinse and maybe a splash of soap and it will stay 35x more hygienic than the usual cleansing brushes. When you’re aiming for clearer skin, there is no point in brushing your face with a brush that has built up a wealth of bacteria. The thought makes me cringe slightly.

How do I use it?

I just cleanse my face as normal, removing the majority of my face makeup and using my waterproof make up remover to rid my eyes of liner and mascara. Then I personally love using the Lush Ultrabland cleanser at the moment, working this all over the face before picking up the Luna Mini. In small circular movements, I work the device over the skin, moving from one side of the face to the next in 15 second intervals, when it reminds you to move on, with a slight pulsation. I should also mention that of course the device is pulsating, at 8,000 pulsations per minute, that work through each silicone touch point and help to drive out any nasties that are clogging up the pores. In fact, studies have shown that the device removes 99.5% of dirt and oil and 98.5% of makeup residue. Lets just say it’s far more effective at cleaning your face than your hands or a cloth, ever will be.
But the pulsations are so gentle and light, you can really work this all over the skin without feeling a tightness or discomfort afterwards. It is by far the most sensitive and gentle cleansing device I have used, and so much better for my sensitive skin. Yet, the pulsations of the device and the technology and materials involved, really offer a deep-cleanse that is suitable for every day use.

Why do I love it?

In honesty, this has now become a daily device in my routine. I have totally fallen for it. The purple casing, the palm sized cuteness and its ability to leave my skin feeling extremely fresh, yet still plumped and comfortable. Plus, it’s really helping me to keep my facial routine top notch, rather than skipping the second cleanse, that I know I really need to be applying. I actually look forward to using this, which I have never experienced with a similar product. And the fact that it’s waterproof means I have started taking it into the shower for ultra speedy cleanses. And what I was saying earlier about forgetting to charge the brushes? The Luna Mini lasts up to 300 uses per charge, yes 300!? And can be charged via USB. Hallelujah. It also won’t require extra brush heads and has a 2 year warranty, and 10 year guarantee. The Swedish certainly make some sturdy, useful products. I’m sold!
So without going on any more about how fantastic this product actually is, I’ll just say I would highly recommend it and its become a daily essential in my routine. Alongside the Foreo Issa toothbrush, which I’d recommend you have a peek at too. Just migrating myself over to silicone everything recently it would seem!
Now, have you tried this? Or are you intrigued to give it a whirl? I’d love to know what you think of this cool new device!
