The night I hosted fashion on the Red Carpet…
You may have seen slight changes in my style recently. I have been selling a huge amount of clothing from previous seasons to clear room for the new, and altering my style to a more refined fashion feel. And I have really been enjoying embracing my true love and passion for personal style and fashion garments. It meant that this year I was able to go along to a huge number of LFW shows to trend forecast and gather information about the newest fashions before they hit the shelves. And it has also meant that I am becoming more associated with fashion blogging and styling, although I still dabble in all types of writing. And this is the career path I am truly pushing myself down, as like I have said before, fashion is pretty engrained in me.
Well, due to all of this, this week I was given the opportunity to talk and spot fashion on the Red Carpet of the Insurgent World Premiere. Starring Theo James, Shailene Woodley and Kate Winslet, Wednesday night saw the Premiere of the sequel to Divergent, take to Leicester Square. I was set up in the Hampshire Hotel, literally seconds from the red carpet, and dolled myself up in the most incredible Mary Katrantzou Dress, that if you read all of my fashion posts, you will definitely have seen in my wishlists. It is an absolute beauty and fit me like a dream. I went for the side swept curls, as always, and a purple smokey eye and nude lips – what else is new!?
After some prepping and direction, we headed out onto the Red Carpet to take up positions. I was given a full branded board next to the stage, where a dapper Jim Chapman (wearing all Alfred Dunhill by the way) was hosting the stars on their arrival. After the talent arrived, they walked past my spot, where I had the chance to chat with them about their red carpet style and the trends they are loving for the coming months.
It was a huge pleasure to meet the author Veronica Roth, who at just one year older than myself, has accomplished something truly amazing. The second of her novels was showing at the Odeon in Leicester Square and there are possibly another two films on the way. She looked absolutely beautiful, in a J Brand white blazer positioned on her shoulders with a maxi asymmetric skirt from Michael Lo Sordo. We chatted over our love for Tory Burch when she mentioned her heels, and her Salvatore Ferragamo clutch just added that extra sparkle to a feminine tailored ensemble.
Although I was unable to steal any time with Shailene to talk fashion, I have a feeling she must have slipped past when I was chatting with Theo, she may have stolen the show on the evening, wearing a Ralph Lauren Collection silk ivory gown, with layers of organza and silk to the open back.
Can we just take a second to appreciate this gentleman, please?! Wearing a full Dolce and Gabbana suit, Theo James looked incredibly dapper and was just as gentlemanly and wonderful to speak to as he was to look at.
Two of the most wonderful ladies you will ever meet, Nic and Sam Chapman, otherwise known as Pixiwoo looking truly stunning sporting similar floral themes. Nic wore a Kenzo Torn Flowers dress with Valentino Rockstud Heels whilst Sam wore Givenchy Heels, a Peter Pilotto Dress and a Balenciaga Leather Jacket. The ladies spoke of their alternative styles, with Nic mentioning her love of colour in fashion and makeup for the coming seasons with a signature lip shade, with Sam maintaining her rocky edge, opting for leather jackets and swooning over Saint Laurents new collections. I think I might need to go shopping with the ladies very soon then!
Fran Newman-Young was just as friendly as she appears on screen, wearing a H&M blouse and skirt, Boohoo Heels and a Prada bag. We had a quick chat about summer trends and whats she’s hoping to be wearing, and she mentioned she’s loving preppy styles, pastel trousers and camel items. I could not agree more.
Louise Hazel wore a Yuvna Kim embellished dress, and good on her for being so brave as so go braless. She has a stunning figure, so why not flaunt it. She wore some classic Jimmy Choos and a navy pony hair clutch from Reiss with beautiful radiant makeup.
My favourite male duo, otherwise known as Jon Chapman and Leon Bustin of The Lean Machines, looking extremely dapper, swapping their gym sneakers for suits and shoes! Leon wore a light blue Ralph Lauren shirt with smart red Dr. Martins and tailored Topman trousers, whilst Jon wore a Gieves and Hawkes navy suit and tan shoes from Loake.
I’m sure you may be familiar with the wonderful Lucy and Lydia Connell already, but if not, they are a bright and bubbly twin duo from Norwich who create the happiest Youtube beauty and fashion videos as LucyandLydia. Lydia wore a black embellished ASOS dress from Needle and Thread, New Look heels and Bauble Bar jewellery with a Mulberry clutch bag. Lucy wore a Frock and Frill blouse from ASOS, an ASOS skirt and New Look shoes. The ladies mentioned they are excited for denim shorts, sheer shirts and converse for summer, with boho hair and feather hair accessories. And also, say hey to Dom, our incredible Manager and one of the most supportive people I’ve ever met.
The gorgeous Carly Musleh, known for her flawless makeup looks on her Youtube Channel, looked sophisticated and elegant in a H&M peach bodycon dress, ASOS Duster coat, a Michael Kors clutch and Missguided heels. For spring, this lovely lady is looking forward to lots of white shades and bright yellows, although she’s loving blush tones with her new platinum locks. Making me miss my platinum to be honest.
Lucy Watson is a lady I have a lot of love for. She was so lovely to chat with about her summer styles and looked so elegant in a lace black number from Forever Unique with Kurt Geiger heels. She finished the look with a cute Missguided clutch complete with a Skinnydip phone case inside. For the spring, she was loving double denim, dungarees and 70’s styling with flares and khaki! I may have to invest in a pair of dungarees at some point!
After being a huge fan of the Hills through my teens, Stephanie Pratt was a lady I was looking forward to meeting. And like everyone else, was just as lovely to chat with. She was wearing a Marc Jacobs Rainbow Palette dress from Girl Meets Dress, with a Louis Vuitton clutch and Proenza heels. For summer, Stephanie was excited for tailored shorts with white cool tees and wedges. Agreed!
And I was pleased to chat with a musician on the evening, as a big fan of guitarists, this was a pretty cool chat with Carl Barat from the Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things. The hat he found on tour, the jacket was vintage Dior, and he paired those with Dr. Martin boots and Burberry black trousers. Very cool indeed.
And finally, what did I wear? I was wearing the Mary Katrantzou Raynor Dress, with my Gianvito Rossi Courts, Fendi 3jours Tote and ASOS slouchy white coat. And if you’re interested in what makeup I was wearing, take a peek at my Youtube on Sunday evening, as I have a GRWM video all ready and waiting for you! And one last thing, a massive thank you to my wonderful manager Fran for keeping me organised. Not sure what I’d do without this lady!
Who’s excited for the film? I’ll be honest, I thought it was even better than Divergent and I cant wait for the next one! I’ve also become a huge huge fan of Theo James overnight.
What they wore
