Gold metallics and the royals were back…
Although Pam Hogg had experimented with matte golds in her fantasy collection, this is the first I’ve seen of the golden hues, and yet the pieces on the catwalk for Emilio de la Morena were stunning, elegant and regal. Using black as his key collection colour, royal blues and cherry reds were injected into frills and skirts with the unique element being the gold, bronze and silver metallics within jackets and floor length dresses. Sweetheart, off the shoulder and rounded necklines accompanied mini, midi and maxi lengths with brocade mesh and lace details to the décolletage. And this is also the first time I noticed velvet used in a collection, and used very heavily. Mixed into garments alongside mesh, frills and metallics, in mosaic forms, some may say the collection was a little too busy. But there were a number of fantastic pieces in this collection and shapes that will certainly be a hit for Autumn.
