Under the sea, and floating above it…
The first aquatic theme I had seen at London Fashion Week, with bubble prints, reconstructed lifeboat fabric jackets and shark-shaped mittens from Christopher Raeburn. With Ugg providing the footwear, the models wore jumpsuits, oversized coats, skirts and culottes with nods to modern sailor-wear, again in shades of life-raft orange, khakis and black, with the odd shark-print knitted jumper. This is one of the first time I saw grey used more prominently too, which I’m more than happy with, as a big fan of marl. But the oversized orange mac, with life-raft emergency tape still in tact, was the defining piece of the show, and pulled all of the nautical references into one clear collection. With rain and water droplet references within the soundtrack, the viewer was taken to a calming, tranquil day on the sea.
