I don’t remember the last time I featured this wonderful brand on Inthefrow…
So it’s about time I brought you some new Lancome goodies. I’ve been meaning to show you this palette for a while, so yesterday I figured I’d try it out for a day in the flat. Nothing like a full face of makeup throughout the day to make you feel whole. I used the Burberry foundation (mixing Fresh Glow 11 and 31) firstly and the Kevin Aucoin Skin Enhancer in SX05 under my eyes to get the perfect base, just in case you were wondering what I used.
I then used the Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes palette in Reflet D’Amesth with this beautiful mixture of pearlescent and irridescent pinks, creams and purples. You all know I love a purple toned eye look, so this was right up my street. I used the very lightest shade to my brow bone and inner corner. I then swept the lightest pink tone and the larger pink to the left of the palette, all over the lid before adding the two deepest purples to the crease with a lot of blending. I finished off the look by using a thin liner brush to draw a thin liner of the plum purple to my lash line and winging it out.
I loved it. As soon as I was applying the shades, the ease to which they applied and blended and the colour pay off was just making me so happy and the finished look was so sultry and pretty.
I then used the Lancome Artliner Felt Pen in black to draw into my upper inner lash line, although I wouldnt recommend doing this with anything other than a kohl liner, it just doesnt work. And in honesty, these sorts of pens are not my favourite. I find that soft felt nibs just dont apply the product the same as those with synthetic hair or harder felt nibs like the Eyeko liner for example. Theyre just not something I love all that much.
For the finishing touches, I used my Shu Uemura curlers for my eyelashes and applied the Lancome Grandoise Mascara. Ive heard so much about this product, with its cool swan neck wand and ability to apply the product that little bit easier. Although you all know Im a huge ambassador for waterproof mascara, I must admit I liked this a lot. It really helped to lengthen and very much separate the eyelashes, coating them in lots of jet black product. I admit I helped them along by using my fingers to push the lashes upwards during the drying process to tease them into more of a curl, and then finished with a quick pump with the curlers, but they did make my eyes look nicely awake. If you have naturally curly lashes, I honestly think this mascara might blow you away. It doesnt everything for your lashes you could hope for, apart from holding a curl all that well for us straight lash gals.
Overall, I was so thrilled with how it all came together! The mascara is fab and the palette even better! Such a beautiful set of shades and you can see how subtle the purple is. Ladies might be put off by how bright these purples look, but you really dont have to be so heavy handed on application. Just small light sweeps over the palette can leave you with some beautiful colour pay offs.
And just to also let you know, although Im not wearing it in the photos above, Im also a big big fan of the Lancome Rouge in love lipstick, in the Rouge in Love shade. The colour of this is truly stunning, with more cherry and pink undertones to the red. It fits perfectly with Mac Cherry liner which is a total fave of mine but just adds so much more of a pink tone than your usual letterbox reds. Im currently obsessed with it, so I thought Id include some images I took of me wearing it, just in case you were interested!
