It’s not just the celebs who can dress up for the Golden Globes…
In honesty, I would never have got this dolled up if I was staying in for the night. Rather, I would have cosied up in Abercrombie sweat pants, my hair in a top knot, with the TV on until the early hours. Yet, I was invited to the Golden Globes Watch Along Party with E, so I felt I needed to suit my makeup and outfit to the occasion. I was joining Sammi and Fleur for the evening with a random selection of others, including Scott Mills, Jameela Jamil and Henry Holland, lots of Champagne and the coolest suite in the W Hotel; there was a rotating half moon sofa for crying out loud. Whilst I opted for a dress I haven’t worn in a year, I spruced up my makeup a little with a dark smokey look that I haven’t done in a long time. Of course I filmed the whole Get Ready with Me, so please do have a watch along. But if you want to follow it step by step, I’ve added each step below with a link to where you can buy the product. Enjoy, and please do subscribe if you’re feeling lovely! Here we go…
I’m all about that BASE
So first up, of course I moisturised with Regen Cream after adding some Hydraluron, and before adding some Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Primer. I then applied my beloved Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation in Beige Ivory and Creme Ivory in equal parts with the Zoeva Silk Finish Brush Sprayed that I had dampened with The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist.
I lightened my undereyes with Mac Prep and Prime in light Boost and further concealed with the wondrous Kevin Aucoin Skin Enhancer in SX05. This stuff could cover absolutely anything. Plus nothing blends it better than a dampened Real techniques sponge.
For my contour, I used the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow palette (of course I did), with the Mac Large Contour brush, a brush I still love after years of owning it. For contour its a winner. Moving more into adding some life, light and radiance, I used the Real techniques Blush brush to add Radiant Light from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, to my cheeks. I added more bronzer, with the Nars Laguna Bronzer and Real Techniques Powder Brush, down the neck to blend. I decided to contour my nose for once, taking a Real techniques eyeshadow brush to contour with the filmstar bronze and glow palette. Then I blended all of those products with my Zoeva Silk Finish brush. I went back to the Hourglass Ambient Light palette and Incandescent light as my highlight with the Real Techniques Cheek brush and added more of the Hourglass Radiant Light to my cheeks as a blush.
EYES
I took the Sigma Eyeshadow base in persuade all over my eyes to create an even base. Then I used the Lorac Pro palette to add the shades Nude and White to my brow bone with the Sigma E40. I took the shade Taupe to my crease as a transition shade on the Zoeva Luxe soft definer.
I then applied the Bobbi Brown Eye definer brush with the Anastasia Brow Pomade in soft brown to define my brows. I did this step before finishing my eyes, just so I could see how heavy I was making my eyes later. I set the brows with the HD Brows Brow beater.
I went back to the Lorac palette with my Real techniques blending brush from the Nics Picks collection and used the shade Mauve as an all over base lid colour. I then used Deep purple to the outer V of the eye, being careful of fall out as this stuff has maximum pigmentation. I took the Mac pencil brush to add this shade to my lower lash line too. I added the shade nude into the very inner corner of my eye on the Zoeva luxe petite crease brush. I finally add Pewter over the top of the Mauve shade for a little more sparkle and I blended everything really well with the Sigma E38.
I used the Mac Eye Kohl in smolder to my lower lash line and tight line before adding it along my upper lash line, using the Zoeva liner brush to wing it out with more product. Really work more eyeliner into the lashes and this line to make it jet black. I then added the Lancome Grandoise mascara to the lashes after curling with the Shu Uemura curlers, before applying Ardell Demi Wispies with Duo glue. My favourite lashes ever.
LIPS
Although the lips had the amazing By Terry Baum De Rose in rosy babe applied already, I then lined around the edge with Illamasqua Lip liner in Fantasy and actually also add Mac Honey Love to the centre. I add a touch of the Nude shade from Lorac to my cupids bow and voila.
NAILS
My usual favourites. Illamasqua Trilliant polish coated in Seche Vite Top Coat.
HAIR
In my usual fashion, I went for the side swept large waves using all of the below. Simples.
OUTFIT
So the outfit. I’m very sorry to tell you I got this dress last year from Lashes of London and it appears they’re all sold out. I also doubt you can find the boots or jacket from Zara now either, although there are quite a few alternative cream jackets around if you check Asos and Topshop! In the photo I’m also holding a clutch from Boohoo, but in fact due to iPhone size issues, I took my gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff Clutch instead. A much better choice overall.
And there we have it, the full and final Golden Globes Watch along party look. I really hope that was useful. Please let me know if any of this was helpful written down in this way and if you find it easy to read along with. If not, I might just stick to letting to the video do all the talking. What did you get up to on Golden Globes night?
