One of the most incredible evenings I’ve experienced…
When I was invited along to the Little Black Primer launch event with Estee Lauder, whilst I knew the evening would be something pretty special, I had no idea just how memorable it would be. We were checked into our rooms at the superb Beaumont Hotel, a 1920’s inspired restplace with the most impeccable service, decor and ambience. The room was a celebrities dream, with marble underfloor heating to the bathroom, a walk in waterfall shower, satin robes, varnished mahogany furnishings and a king sized bed that dreams are made of. The girls at Estee Lauder had also prepped the room with finishing touches, leaving me the most luxurious Olivia Von Halle silk pyjamas boxed and ready for my return in the evening, alongside their famous Advanced Night Repair Recovery Complex. I felt like a queen. I also walked past Claudia Schiffer on my way to the room, double taking and craning my neck around in disbelief. Apparently Tom Ford was dining in the restaurant concurrently.
Changing out of my Monochrome duster jacket, I donned my little black dress from Lipsy and a pair of Louboutin Pigalle pumps in nude, opting for a nude lip and large brushed out waves for a more glamorous style. I headed down to drinks in the bar before myself and the lovely Suzie and Sam from Pixiwoo, were whisked off in Maserati’s to The Arts Club for dinner. I have never heard of the Arts Club, although I’m led to believe it’s a pretty exclusive and famous restaurant, well loved by celebrities and those in the know, and it would seem this was true due to our spotting of Kris Jenner. The food was out of this world, with the most delicious burrata for starters, Chateaubriand for mains and banana stick toffee pudding for dessert, amongst other dishes. In a group of 12 bloggers plus Estee Lauder staff, we helped ourselves, sipped on prosecco and chatted over our love of beauty, food and London town.
It was all in aid of Estee Lauder’s new launch of the Little Black Primer. A product that primes the lashes before mascara, enabling fuller, longer and more volumised lashes before a coat of your favourite coating. You may have seen that Kendall Jenner has been signed as brand ambassador and the leading lady for this campaign. Im a huge fan of Kendall and have a lot of respect for how professional and mature she has become after being thrust into the spotlight by her uber famous family. She looks fantastic in the advertisements and I think it is such a fantastic fit for the brand at the current time. The wand is thin and simple, yet promises to be a helpful little tool for better looking lashes. It lightly tints the eyelashes in a soft black-grey, rather than the usual white of regular lash primers, for those days when you want a lighter coat of colour. Plus, it can also be used over the top of mascara to set the colour in a waterproof topcoat, and prevent flaking. I curled my lashes with my trusty Shu Uemura curlers before applying the little black primer, working the wand through my lashes to separate and thicken with the dark grey product. I say dark grey because for me it wasnt entirely black, yet for those days when Im after a lighter black product for my lashes, this is something I’ll be reaching for. I find black mascara can sometimes look quite harsh on my eyes if I haven’t applied eyeliner. I then applied mascara over the top, and I definitely saw a difference in lash separation and the volume of each lash. For me, in honesty I don’t know if it will become an essential product, as I love my waterproof mascaras anyway, and find that they don’t need much help in terms of setting my lashes. Yet, for those who prefer a lighter black-grey shade of ‘mascara’, and would like a more off-duty look, or alternatively, find their eyelashes are quite thin and need a boost of volume and separation, this is the little black primer for you. The primer is now available in Boots and Sephora but will be launched everywhere else, including Selfridges on February 4th.
Are you tempted by the Little Black Primer? What do you think of Lauder’s collaboration with Kendall?
