With the cold nights drawing in, its all about the cosy nights in…
Christmas is almost upon us as the mornings and evenings are getting unbearably cold and it got me thinking about how much my routine changes at this time of the year. No more lounging around in vests and short sleeve tees, or heading to the nearest bar to sit outside for a ‘quick drink.’ In fact, not as much going out in general, as braving the outdoors is like stepping foot into the arctic recently. On this night, me and Alex decided we wanted an evening in, although we were craving hotdogs from Dogs and Dough probably around 15 minutes walk away. The cold actually kept us from leaving the house, how ridiculous is that, so Indian takeaway it was. But then I remembered I had two bottles of the new Rekorderlig Winter Cider that would be perfect for afterwards when we got cosy in front of the TV. We don’t do this that often, apart from when it gets a lot colder, and sitting in front of the TV absorbing each others body heat is all we have to occupy ourselves with. We snuggled up in our jumpers and hats, threw a blanket over us and got ourselves a winter cider each. The cool thing about this new flavour is that you can heat it up and serve it either hot or cold. I opted for hot, so I warmed it up in a pan and poured it into my cute little Rekorderlig pint glass. If I’d had any orange in the house, a slice of orange with this would have finished it off perfectly and been super festive. Yet Alex fancied a cold drink after the meal, so I poured him a chilled bottle into a tall glass. How twee we are, sat in front of the Christmas tree (getting my moneys worth), snuggled with a blanket and watching rubbish standard television.
As for what I was wearing, I was snuggled in my amazing Hush jumper than I am obsessed with, some Christmassy socks from Corgi and a new real fur (ethically sourced and certified by the way) bobble hat from Mimu in navy merino wool. I had walked to and from work in it and didnt fancy taking it off in my freezing cold house. It’s absolutely beautiful, especially with its unclippable fur pom pom, so perfect for when it needs a quick wash and you don’t want to ruin the pom.
Ive told you a number of times before how much of a Rekorderlig fan I am. Its the only drink that me and my flatmate Rebecca buy in for ourselves, unless were on the wine, and when we go out for drinks, again its all we order. For some reason, Ive always been loyal to this brand. I dont know why, other than it just tastes so lovely and refreshing, so it suits me for when Im chilling out in the evenings. For this night, it was the perfect accompaniment, especially as we had ran out of port and mulled wine.
