You may not have heard, but I had a pretty awesome week last week. Not only did I pass my PhD, thats right, you can call me Doc, but I also hit 100k Youtube subscribers!.
I just happened to have planned a trip to Nottingham to see my bestest babe, Steph, or Goodie Gumdrops as I like to call her, without realising that that weekend would be cause for big celebrations. Having exhausted myself months previous, slogging away at my PhD whilst holding down two full time jobs practically, it has been a year I’ll never forget, that’s saying the least. So, I was so excited to just chill out over wine, good food and amazing catch ups. It was the most special weekend I’ve had in a really long time, and I wanted to share some bits with you!
So, as above, on the Saturday night we headed to Jamie’s Italian for something spesh. We were sat comfortably to the side of the restaurant, far enough away from others so we could gossip to our hearts content, but not be on someone else’s lap. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and got the night in full flow, ordering the yummiest gorgonzola, bruschetta, pear and Proscuitto starter as well as a Caprese salad, after which I ordered ricotta dumplings and a sausage parpadelle pasta for Steph. There were moments we sat in silence and just inhaled how ridiculously tasty everything was. The staff were also just wonderful to us; we had an incredible evening. After getting slightly tipsy on excellent Prosecco, we headed back home to get in our pyjamas and watch some True Blood.
That day though, we had been pampered like Queens and had eaten like Kings. In the morning we had headed to Patisserie Valerie for a brunch, as I was craving their Croque Monsieur. After prying ourselves away from the cakes, we did a touch of shopping, okay a lot, in Primark, (Haul to come) before realising we were running late for our mini spa hour. I had booked myself and Steph into a nearby Beauty Salon, the Beauty Temple for one of their Signature massages. Consisting of a full back exfoliation, a scalp massage and a neck and shoulders massage of dreams, we literally floated out of the salon. You get 40 minutes for £45 and it is money well spent. Hands down the most amazing massage I have ever had.
I was so pleased, as I had booked the massage treats on the Wahanda website without really knowing anything about the salon. Wahanda is a portal for beauty salons around the country that specialise in everything beauty, so if there is a particular treatment youre after, its a fantastic way to find the right spot. Honesty, I used to be really into this website and checked it pretty frequently for new deals, and for some reason I got out of a habit of doing that. But as I wanted to have a really special weekend, I thought a bit of massage pampering would be a lovely idea for the two of us, so I headed onto the Wahanda website and narrowed it down to the Nottingham City Centre radius. I came across Beauty Temple, read up on their reviews, chose the treatment that sounded the most luxurious and after purchasing a voucher for the salon, I booked in. It was heavenly and both me and Steph couldn’t rave more about it. If I lived in Nottingham, I would definitely head there every month for some much needed tension relief. Here are a few phone snaps of the salon. So sorry, but my camera battery had ran out, typically. So back to the iPhone it was. But you get the idea. Relaxed, chilled, simple and soothing.
Before I headed back, there was just enough time to visit Bills Restaurant and order the blueberry pancakes with banana, strawberries and blueberries, with extra added bacon. Literally the most indulgent weekend in a very long time, but one I felt I deserved.
