Im writing this from the ultimate comfort of a super king size bed, with a view of the London eye to my right and a vase of fresh roses to my left. Im staying at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London for the evening in between a few London events and I could not be any more content right now.
So I felt it was about time I did a bit of a round up of the amazing Trekamerica competition that I have been lucky enough to be a part of. Trekamerica, as you may know, have just been running an amazing competition for one lucky wanderluster to win a two week trip around America, all expenses paid. With a little help from me and two other bloggers, they set about finding the best blogger of them all with three challenges. The first was to write a post describing what you would pack for a holiday. There were so many cool entires, with some ladies going above and beyond and opting for stop motion videos, loads of images or sometimes loads of elaborate pieces of text. But a few really stood out and they got put forward to round two.
The second round entailed the semi-finalists taking a photograph that they believed represented the red, white and blue of the American flag. At this point, there were ten entrants left and ten really cool images, some of which I loved, especially Rachel’s picture of Monument Valley and Amy’s image of the floating girl holding the red, white and blue balloons. So whimsical. If you look above, the images from the five finalists are all collaged together.
But only five were put through to the final round and step three required them to write a blog post about why they should win the trip. Obviously at this stage its make or break. Five ladies extremely eager to win the trip of a lifetime, with only four other people standing in their way. Rachel has gone all out with a huge post about how much she would love to win and why she should win, with a fantastic video that made me smile so much. So fun! Georgina from Livelaughlipstick has also included a video, this time about herself as a filmmaker and creative genius with some more beautiful imagery and a heartfelt reasoning of why she should win. Abigail from Tuesdays Girl has thought outside the box and written a really lovely poem about why she should win and has three really strong entries overall. I love her little image about Travel: It leaves you speechless and then turns you into a storyteller. I could not agree more. The fourth finalist is Beazie whos entries I have really loved, and for the third stage she has again written a really heartfelt post about why she is the perfect candidate to win the competition. I love her images ‘on the road’ and just making reference to the cult classic made me smile. And finally Amy from the Cameras Lying who’s amazing photo of the girl with the balloons won the photo round. Another lovely post about why she should win, making reference to her love of writing, passion for photography and her ability to share experiences with the world.
All five are fantastic entries and choosing the winning lucky lady will be extremely difficult. Weldone to all five ladies for getting to the final round and thank you to everyone else who took the time to enter. I have had so much fun working with Trek on this competition and have loved every minute of reading through your posts and entries. After spending 9 weeks with Trekamerica last year, I am truly an ambassador for the company and have recommended them more times that I can imagine. They made my experience fantastic and I had the best 9 weeks of my life with them. I cannot wait for the trip I have booked in June on the Westerner 3. LA, Vegas and San Fran, I hope you’re ready for me!
Heres a photo of me taking a photo of Half Dome, Yosemite (I think). The memory of this will last for my lifetime. Fingers crossed for the five finalists. Happy travels my lovelies x
