(YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils – £23.50 full size*)
Another cheeky sample from a goodie bag and a product that I have wanted to try for a while. The YSL volume effet faux cils mascara usually comes in a luxurious gold casing with the beautiful logo emblazoned on the wand. It is supposed to be fantastic at adding volume to the lashes and has been named as a cult product due to this. However, you might be able to see from the pictures that I wasn’t all that impressed. Maybe it was just my sample, but the product didn’t apply mascara the easily, not allowing a lot of product onto the wand at once meaning that I had to go back a few times to retouch. Whilst it somewhat combed my lashes, it didn’t comb them to the extent of the Benefit They’re Real Mascara and just made my lashes feel limp. The mascara didn’t help me manage the lashes, meaning the lashes were not uniform and fanned out, as I try to achieve with other mascaras. Also, the formula was not entirely black as you can see, and instead just looked like a dark grey. So overall, I wasn’t impressed and this is definitely something I wont be buying in the future. When it comes to mascaras I need the formula to be jet black, the wand to comb through the lashes and manage where they sit and to add some thickness and length. This didn’t tick any of those boxes.
