Burt’s Bees Tinted and Beeswax Lip Balms

(Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm – £5.99 // Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm – £3.69)

The hunt is constantly on for the perfect lip balm. One that isn’t too powerful, too pigmented, too drying, too scented or too sticky. With the amount of products on the market, surely there is one product that actually hydrates your lips amazingly without turning your lips into a dry and helpless balm addict. I loved Carmex for around 4 months and still do use it time to time, but I found that after 3 months, my lips had gotten used to it. They no longer stung when I applied it. They got drier much faster and had become needy for more Carmex to be applied. That is when I decided I needed to move on to something else. I remembered I had these two products tucked away in a draw and got them out to try.
The Burts Bees tinted balm is so lovely with a sheer pink sheen. It subtly alters the colour of your lips to a beautiful pink which I love whilst also really moisturising the lips. The Beeswax lip balm however, I loved for about 2 weeks. Then suddenly I started to feel my lips getting really dry and flaking, which they havent done for all the time I was using Carmex. Carmex is supposed to contain some really bad ingredients that make your lips extremely dry after a while and I made sure the Beeswax product didn’t contain them, and yet my lips felt worse. For this reason, I do not know who to believe now when it comes to people telling you what you should or shouldn’t be applying to your lips. The Beeswax product stings when applied, like Carmex, which I personally love as it makes it feel as though its working. It also softened my lips nicely for a while and was a great base for lipstick. But the drying of my lips after a while was quite worrying so I wont be buying this again. However, the tinted balm doesn’t have the same result and is a much better product for me personally. If you’re a person who loves quick and simple balms with a hint of colour, this might be something you will love.
Please can you recommend to me any lip balms that really hydrate the lips without drying?
